Do you have rough sawn slabs from a sawmill? Our slab jig is great for making your own raw edge countertop, kitchen table, coffee table, or any sized charcuterie or cutting board. It is perfect for making your next slab project perfectly flat.
Our latest model now includes pre-drilled holes to fit the most common routers, locking handle, and shaft collars for the table rails so you can now lock any axis.
Our patent pending design makes using on large size slabs a breeze. With a vertical working range of 3.5”, you can easily raise and lower the router to accommodate multiple sized projects without the time-consuming readjusting or calibrating of other flattening methods.
This is a very rigid router jig that will help make your woodworking projects more professional without the expense of a CNC router. Mount the sled to any flat and level work surface. When you’re done with your project, the modular design comes apart and stores compactly. Great for small garage workshops or bigger shops needing to flatten wider than what their large planers can handle.
Perfect for end-grain cutting boards and other projects where minimal tear-out is ideal. It's great for projects too big for a standard size thickness planer/jointer. With our router sled you can get your big and small projects done.
Routers that fit the pre-drilled mounting holes on the 20mm version:
• Triton TRA001*
• Festool OF1400 EQ-F
• 1 ¾ Horsepower Porter Cable
• 3 ¼ Horsepower Porter Cable
• Bosch MRP01 Base
• Bosch MRF01 Base
The wider and more rigid 25mm version fits all of the above plus the Festool OF 2200 EB*
*Our favorites for flattening
Using the Slab Flattening Mill is as easy as sliding your router back and forth across your workpiece (slab, cookie, or kitchen table), moving over a little less than the width of your cutter and repeating until you’re done. Flattening works best with a 2 horsepower or more variable speed router such as a Triton, Festool, Porter Cable, DeWalt, Makita, or Bosch. Our rigid 3/8" aluminum mounting plate comes pre-drilled for Triton TRA001 and 3 ¼ hp Porter Cable routers (other routers can be mounted by drilling holes using your router's base plate as a template). If your router base is over 7.5" you’ll need the 25mm version to accommodate the larger base plate e.g. Festool 2200.
Using a router sled is typically a process that produces a lot of shavings and turns your shop into a huge mess, but not with our router jig. With our 2.5" dust collection port (4” on the 25mm version) and brushes cleanup is quick and simple, giving you more time to work on your projects and less time cleaning the shop.
Gantry length is the length of the rails. Actual cutting width is about 10" less due to the size of the carriages and varies depending on the size of the cutter.
With our system you can flatten any length of table. Our X-direction rails that mount to your work surface are modular, connecting end to end, so if you need to flatten something longer you can just add more rails. The kits rail kits come in multiple pieces; the sizes of rails you get are listed below. For example, a 4x8 setup will include (2) four foot Y gantry rails (one pair) and (4) X direction 4 foot table rails (two pairs).
The "No Rails" version includes: one locking bearing (the rest of the bearings are not supplied), two height adjusting ends, the router plate, and fasteners to attach the bearings. This fits the two different versions of 20mm rails seen in the photos. Other bearings are usually included with rail sets.
Does not include: rails, table, trailer, or other work surface, router, or router bits.
